Emperador Inc. – the largest global brandy company owning the world’s iconic and best-selling brandy Emperador Brandy – saw revenues grow 2% year-on-year to P12.3 billion, while net profit to owners hit P2.1 billion.
Emperador Inc president, Mr. Winston S. Co, said “We recorded higher revenues year-on-year despite challenges posed by global logistics and the Omicron variant that brought lockdowns across international markets including the Philippines in the first quarter of 2022. The revenue growth in the first quarter again proves that the overall demand for Emperador’s products remains strong as markets around the world continue to seek out the brands under Emperador’s large brandy and whisky portfolio. The brandy segment was more impacted by rising costs. We managed to keep gross margin and net profit robust amidst inflationary pressures.”
Mr. Co also added, “Amidst the supply chain challenges, the operational priority is to get products on shelves to consumers. Global demands remain high as economies continue to open. We look forward to better prospects and better year as the company pursues its strategic long-term agenda of premiumization and internationalization.”
Emperador Inc. also owns Fundador – Spain’s oldest and largest brandy and sherry maker with over 300 years of brandy heritage. The company also owns Whyte & Mackay – the fifth largest whisky manufacturer globally with over 175 years of whisky heritage. Emperador has a compelling product presence in over 100 countries across six continents.
