PALAYAN CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the two-storey Officer’s Quarters of Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.
The P8.82-million project was funded under the Tatag ng Imprastruktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Program of DPWH and Department of National Defense.
“In 2021, we met with AAR officials on the implementation of TIKAS projects and were told that this was the first time the regiment had received funding under the convergence program,” Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said during the inauguration of the building.
He added that the infrastructure can now provide AAR personnel with comfortable and safe accommodation.
For his part, AAR Commander Colonel Francis Anthony Coronel expressed gratitude for the completion of the officer’s quarters as it also contributes to the modernization of the service branch.
Army Acting Vice Commander Major General Roy Galido, on the other hand, emphasized that the simple comfort the quarters provide to personnel will also lead to a comfortable mind that allows them to think better and think strategically.
DPWH, through Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office, has implemented a total of 16 projects from 2020-2021 worth P478.8 million for different Philippine Army units stationed in Fort Magsaysay.
For this year, 18 more TIKAS projects with a total budget of P304.4 million are already in various stages of implementation.
