PRO3 sends relief goods to ‘Egay’ victims

CAMPO OLIVAS — In response to the devastating effects of Typhoon “Egay” in the Cagayan region, Police Regional Office 3 has provided aid to the affected communities.

 PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) “Adopt a Region” initiative, PRO3 immediately started the distribution of relief goods and assist victims of the recent disaster.

Typhoon “Egay” has caused widespread flooding, landslides, and displacement of residents in several areas of the Cagayan region.

 Recognizing the urgency of the situation, PRO3 has mobilized its resources and police volunteers to assemble relief goods through the Regional Police Community Affairs and Development Division headed by Col. Marites  Salvadora.  

The relief goods include rice, canned goods, instant noodles and other essential items which amounted to P600,000 and to be distributed to at least 3,000 families. 

Hidalgo said over 200 PRO3 personnel are currently deployed for search and rescue operations and about 1000 are on standby and ready on call, if the need arises. 

Some 565 families or 2,062 individuals are in the evacuation centers in Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales.
