A village councilor and his son-in-law were injured when he accidentally fired an unlicensed gun while allegedly playing with it in Barangay Maria Fe, Orani, Bataan.
In a report from Orani PNP, the victims were identified as Rizalino Manansala, 46, village councilor of Barangay Maria Fe, Orani, Bataan and his son-in-law named Jomel Macapagal, 21, also a resident of the same village.
Investigation revealed that around 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, Manansala tried to unload his gun but accidentally fired it, hitting his left hand and the abdominal area of his son-in-law.
The victims were both rushed to Orani District Hospital and later transferred to Bataan General Hospital.
A case of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and violation of Omnibus Election Code are being prepared against the village official.
