Bataan receives recognition from NCIP

BALANGA CITY — The provincial government of Bataan received a recognition from National Commission on Indigenous Peoples for empowering ethnic minorities particularly during the pandemic.

“Empowering Indigenous Peoples (IP) align with the province’s vision to create a rapid, sustainable, efficient and inclusive growth for the economy and our people where no one will be left behind,” Governor Albert Garcia said.

“Pursuant to Republic Act 8371 otherwise known as Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997, we have IP representatives in local legislative councils. These IP board members and councilors ensure that funds are allotted for social services, infrastructures, preservation of culture and language, and survey of their ancestral domain,” Garcia shared.

The official furthered that they will continue to improve the lives of the IPs in the province particularly members of Ayta Magbukun and Ayta Ambala tribes.
