DOH: Strictly observe minimum health standards this holiday season

TARLAC CITY — Department of Health (DOH) reminded Central Luzon residents to strictly observe the minimum health standards this holiday season.

DOH Assistant Regional Director Juliana Reyes said wearing of face masks and face shields, washing hands frequently, observing physical distancing, and foregoing non-essential travels are still key to keep everyone safe and protected from COVID-19.

“Celebrating the holidays during this pandemic is no exception to maintaining our caution.  With Christmastime upon us, we have more reasons to be careful as the usual practices during this period post much greater risk of contracting the disease,” she stressed.

DOH enjoins the public to refrain from organizing or participating in any activity that promotes mass gathering of people.

“We recommend safer alternatives such as celebrating virtually or small gatherings with your family members as well as the use of alternative merry making noise tools,” she added.

Relative to this, DOH Medical Officer IV Madison Dominguez said that they are expecting low to no cases of fireworks-related injuries from December 21, 2020 to January 5, 2021.

“Since restrictions such as curfew are still in place, we are hoping for low to zero fireworks-related cases,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dominguez shared that Central Luzon health facilities remain in good shape.

“Currently, our quarantine and health facilities are in great condition but we do not aim for a surge in COVID-19 cases after the holidays. So we encourage everyone to do their share,” he noted.
