Capitol, seniors celebrate Elderly Day

LUBAO – The Provincial Government of Pampanga through its Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) led the celebration of the Elderly Day attended by 1, 016 senior citizens at the Municipal Gym, here.

The event was also attended by Board Members Rosve Henson, Cherry Manalo, Rolando Balingit, Nelson Calara, Benjamin Jocson, Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab and PSWDO head Elizabeth Baybayan.

During the occasion, Board Member Henson explained to the elder-delegates the efforts of the Provincial Board in delivering the services and benefits for the seniors. Among these benefits are the free PhilHealth coverage in all provincial and district hospitals, cash assistance for the 95-year old Kapampangans, and other national and provincial-led programs for the senior citizens.

“You deserve to live comfortably and stress-free because we know we cannot match your contributions to the province. That is why it is our duty to give what is due you,” he said.

For her part, Mayor Cayabyab asked the elder participants to continue supporting the Provincial Government with their programs, adding that the Kapampangans are very lucky to have a supportive government.

She also wished for better health for the elderly Kapampangans.

“My only wish is for you to take advantage of the services given by the provincial government so that when you reach 95 years old, you can avail the P 100,000 cash assistance of the Capitol,” she said.

The senior citizens who were present during the activity were also given P 1,000 cash assistance. –PHILIP OCAMPO/PIO
