CDC holds tree planting activity in celebration of Arbor Day

CLARK FREEPORT — A total of 418 forest trees and flowering trees were recently planted along Creekside Road in this Freeport in a tree planting activity spearheaded by Clark Development Corporation (CDC) here.

According to CDC- Environmental Permits Division (EPD) Manager Engr. Rogelio Magat, there were 5 species of forest and flowering trees that were planted during the activity. These composed of Ilang-Ilang, Agoho, Molave, Narra and Banaba. CDC employees participated in the said activity and led the planting of the said trees.

With the theme “Plant a tree for a better world,” the activity also coincides with celebration of the National Arbor Day and Philippine Environmental Month.

The observance of the National Arbor Day was institutionalized under the Proclamation No. 396 that declared June 25 as Philippine Arbor Day and enjoined “active participation of all government agencies, including government-owned and controlled corporations, private sector, schools, civil society groups and the citizenry in tree planting.”

For its part, CDC has continuously initiated efforts in its pledge of preserving the environment. This is through various programs that are geared towards environmental sustainability in this Freeport.  The state-owned firm also encourages its stakeholders to incorporate green spaces that will include natural elements to their areas.
