Classic Porsches tour Clark

A grand get-together of classic and vintage Porsche aficionados from all around the country was centered in Clark Freeport over the weekend.

The second Gathering of Porsche Classics (GPC) showcased more than 30 high-performance sports cars of the said brand.

A series of track sessions at the Clark International Speedway was held prior to free public viewing of the many amazing cars at the Parade Grounds.

The first GPC was held in Iloilo in 2017. From Clark, the second GPC will head over to Subic and Bataan for a grand tour.

The event was spearheaded by the Bases and Conversion Development (BCDA), in cooperation with Clark Development Corporation (CDC), and Luen Thai International Group Phils., Inc. (L&T Clark).

One of the notable classic cars displayed was the vintage Porsche 911 which was manufactured in 1965.

The GPC was held in Clark for the first time. Randy Viray, event host cited Clark is a perfect venue for the event.

“Clark is situated in a strategic location. It’s in the crossroad of one of our most beautiful roads in the country. We got Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) and we could reach the farthest destinations on this side of the zone in less than an hour.”

Viray also said that the gathering aims to invite car enthusiasts to bring out their old car, fix it and make it road worthy.

“Actually, the aim of this event is to bring out your old car, particularly your old Porsche, and fix it for it to be road worthy because they are meant to be driven. These cars are meant to be driven and not just relegated to the garage,” he said.

BCDA President-CEO Vivencio Dizon

Meanwhile, BCDA President-CEO Vivencio Dizon said that this event serves as a platform to promote Clark and Pampanga as tourist destinations.

Dizon also encouraged other groups to make Clark their next venue for their events and exhibits. –Photos by JP Manalang
