CSF hosts Farmers’Congress 2017

The City Government of San Fernando hosted this year’s Farmers’ Congress, spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Pampanga through in partnership with the Department of Agriculture Region 3.

Dubbed “Tunay na Magsasaka, Para sa Iyo ang Project MANA,” the said congress was attended by various agricultural groups and farmers from the different municipalities in Pampanga.

Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Officer-in-Charge Edilberto Salenga said the congress is held annually to refresh and inform the farmers on the different agricultural programs of the national government.

“We want them to better understand our initiatives that are beneficial to them and we also get them involve in our discussion to know their farming needs,” Salenga said.

Also highlighted during the congress was the “Maunlad na Agrikultura sa Nayon” program which focuses on the innovations in farming and aims to ease the burden of farmers. Thus, increase agricultural productivity.

DA also presented the production performance of the rice and corn program of the province and the High-Value commercial development program.

In his speech, Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago lauded the efforts and the dedication of the farmers in their work. He stressed the importance of farming in ensuring food security for the community.

“Tunay nga na kung wala ang mga magsasaka sa ating lipunan, ang lahat ay magugutom. Kaya naman hanga ako sa inyong dedikasyon na magampanan ang inyong parte sa pagpapalakas ng sektor ng agrikultura,” Santiago said.

Santiago furthered that the Local Government of San Fernando continues to localized the programs and agendas of the agriculture sector to cater the needs of fernandino farmers.

“Kasama po aming prayoridad ang paghahandog ng iba’t-ibang serbisyong pang-agrikultura dahil ito ang pangunahing pinagkukuhanan ng ating makakain sa araw araw.” Santiago added.
