CSF scholars attend disaster preparedness seminar

Beneficiaries of the Educational Scholarship Assistance Program of the City Government of San Fernando attended a seminar on disaster preparedness as part of their community service.

The forum, conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, was held for two days to accommodate all 2,074 college students from different schools in the city.

Jayson Caguiat, head of ESAP, said that aside from receiving cash assistance for their enrolment every semester, the beneficiaries should also voluntarily undergo trainings about disaster resiliency and recovery.

Another highlight of the program is the awarding of ESAP scholars who graduated in 2017 with Latin Honors.

Each of them received cash grants from the City Government headed by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago.

In his speech, Mayor Edsa said “education is the key for the progress of the city. Every Fernandino youth deserves to have an education, but unfortunately, not everyone can afford it. Since education is the administration’s top priority, the city holds some programs like, Educational Scholarship Assistance Program to assist the students in their school expenses. “

Santiago added.
