CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 668 child development workers (CDWs) received a total of P4,990,500 subsidy from the provincial government during the CDWs’ General Assembly recently held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) Officer Elizabeth G. Estiller-Baybayan led the distribution of subsidy to CDWs for their services rendered from January to May of this year.
Baybayan said the provincial government recognizes the commitment of the CDWs in providing guidance and knowledge to very young children in the government-operated centers.
It was in 2016 when CDWs started receiving a P1,500 monthly subsidy from the provincial government which is in accordance with Ordinance 696. Records show that a total of P21,899,000 was distributed to the beneficiaries from 2016 to 2017.
According to Baybayan, aside from the subsidy, the provincial government has also been helping the CDWs through the provision of educational assistance to their children amounting to P3,000 each. The program started in 2016 and has served a total of 225 students for three semesters.
During the assembly, the CDWs were also able to showcase their talents through the acapella singing competition participated by 13 municipalities. CDWs from the town of Lubao bagged the first place while Floridablanca and Arayat got the second and third place respectively.
The beneficiaries also received undergarments and enjoyed a free dental check-up spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The PSWD Officer said the different assistance given to CDWs are part of the continuing commitment of Governor Lilia Pineda in improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries who work hard for the early childhood care of the daycare pupils.
