BACOLOR, Pampanga — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) opened the upgraded Fabrication Laboratory (Fablab) Shared Service Facility at Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU).

The P18-million worth facility is located at the Research and Extension Services Innovation Center. It has 3D printing machines, laser cutting machines, and computerized impressing machines which can create product prototypes.

“This is modern equipment for the maximum utilization of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” DTI Assistant Secretary Blesila A. Lantayona said.

DTI Regional Director Judith P. Angeles, noted that Pampanga is fortunate in having not only one but two Fablab facilities under the auspices of educational institutions.

“A smaller Fablab, amounting to about Php4 million is located at the Philippine Science High School Central Luzon Campus,” Angeles disclosed.

In his message, DHVSU President Enrique G. Baking profusely thanked DTI as he emphasized the importance of partnership, networking and collaboration in fully utilizing the Fablab equipment.

“We have the venue and competent personnel to maintain this facility, and we are looking forward to seeing the equipment being used by the MSMEs of Pampanga and Central Luzon,” he added. (CLJD-PIA 3)
