Gov. Pineda distributes milk to elderly

Senior citizens in Pampanga province have received milk supplementation from the provincial government while Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) is imposed in the area of Luzon.

According to Elizabeth Baybayan, provincial social welfare and development office (PSWDO) head, the milk distribution is part of the mechanisms of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda to continuously deliver assistance to senior citizens, who are at a higher risk of severe illness, amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

“Senior citizens are one of the vulnerable sectors of the society in this time of crisis that’s why the provincial government assured that help will be immediately extended to them,” Baybayan said.

World Health Organization (WHO) said people over 60-years-old are susceptible to the said infectious disease because of their poor immune system caused by aging.

To address this, representatives from PSWDO visited the house of each beneficiary to personally greet and assist milk to some 470 sickly, frail, and bedridden senior citizens in the province.

A total of 28 of beneficiaries received milk supplementation in Magalang; 22 – Floridablanca; 18- Guagua; 19 – Lubao; 20- Porac; 22- Sasmuan; 20 – Sta. Rita; 44- Arayat; 22- Bacolor; 24- City of San Fernando; 85- Mexico; 7- Sta. Ana; 42- Candaba; 22- Macabebe; 22- Masantol; 14- Minalin; 15- San Luis; 19- San Simon town; and another 5 to some beneficiaries from Capitol employees.

Provincial Administrator Attorney Charlie Chua disclosed that the milk supplementations were utilized from the donation of Engr. Morgan Sy of Tokagawa Global Corporation.

It can be recalled that last April 6, Tokagawa has generously provided the provincial government with  500 cans (900 grams) of wellness milk intended for the senior citizens in the province.
