SBMA Harbor Patrol rescues fishermen

The Harbor Patrol division of the Law Enforcement Department (LED) rescued three fishermen near Grande Island around 5:32pm on Friday.
In a report from SBMA, the fishermen were identified as 22-year-old Resty Geram, 15-year-old Darryl Monterde, and 14-year-old Mark John Razon, all residents of Barangay Matain in the town of Subic. They were aboard the half submerged “Tyrone Jake” boat.

SBMA Harbor Patrol officer Norman Lucero received a report concerning a capsized boat at the back of Grande Island and sent officers Soliven Mejos and Thomas Fabiana to respond to the call.

The officers rescued the distressed fishermen and towed the boat back to the Harbor Patrol office.

According to the fishermen, they were en route to Matain after going to Morong when they were struck by strong waves that damaged the side of their boat. They added that water started entering the boat and has left them immobilized.

The Freeport management  assured that the SBMA Harbor Patrol is doing its job in keeping the waters of Subic Bay safe.
