Healthcare workers in Bataan hospital receive beds, daily meals

BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The provincial government of Bataan is continuously providing beds and daily meals to healthcare workers staying and sleeping inside the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC).

Governor Albert Raymond Garcia explained that healthcare workers at the hospital, who were exposed to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients, are not allowed to exit BGHMC premises.

“In partnership with the city government of Balanga, we have allotted 250 foam beds for them. About 400 flat sheets, bed sheet, pillows and pillowcases will also be provided,” Garcia stated.

“Those are temporary makeshift beds because they really need to stay inside the hospital as we wait for their test results,” he added.

Garcia revealed that about 282 healthcare workers, who either tested negative to the disease or were not exposed to COVID-19 patients, are currently billeted in six different hotels.

Moreover, the governor assured that those healthcare workers are being provided with daily meals.

“Daily, from breakfast to dinner, about 3,250 food packs are being distributed to them courtesy of the provincial government,” the local chief executive said.

The food is also being delivered to other frontline workers at various checkpoints and to COVID-19 patients completing the 14-day mandatory post-quarantine at the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga City.

Garcia furthered that the provincial government is taking further actions to safeguard healthcare workers who are at high risk of being infected with the disease.

“All the measures taken by the provincial government is to protect the health and welfare of everyone, including frontliners, healthcare workers and even ordinary citizens” he furthered.
