Senator Alan Peter Cayetano defends the Duterte administration’s campaign against crime and illegal drugs during a privilege speech at the Senate on Monday, September 19, 2016. Cayetano said that international bodies like the United Nations (UN) and foreign media outlets are being misled about the real status of the government’s anti-drug efforts amid accusations of rising human rights violations in relation to the drug war. “We have to save our nation from the efforts of a few people to destroy the image of our country, our economy, and the future of our next generation,” he said.
