Kapampangan basketball coach Aric Del Rosario died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday night. He was 80.
Del Rosario was rushed to the hospital due to cough and difficulty of breathing.
He was tested for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) although the result has yet to be released.
Under his wing, Del Rosario mentored the University of Sto. Tomas’ Growling Tigers and won four straight UAAP men’s basketball championships from 1993-96.
Del Rosario was also deputy to Alaska’s Tim Cone when the team won the PBA grand slam in 1996.
In Pampanga province, Del Rosario was also behind the success of the Pampanga Dragons in the Metropolitan Basketball Association winning the title in 1998.
At the 2003 Southeast Asian Games, Del Rosario also served as coach with the national team bringing home a gold medal .
