PNP cites Macabebe mayor for all-out campaign vs. crimes

MACABEBE, Pampanga Mayor Annette Flores Balgan on Monday expressed
gratitude to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for recognizing her efforts in fighting crimes, including the illegal drugs
trade.

“This recognition is not just for me but for my people who supported my battle against illegal drugs since day one. I also want to thank municipal workers and officials and the dedicated cops from the Macabebe police force, including those previously assigned in our town,” said Balgan, a three-term mayor.

Balgan was the only mayor from Pampanga and Central Luzon given a
plaque of appreciation by the PNP for “her invaluable contribution to the accomplishment of peace and order endeavors of the Police Regional Office 3.”

It was signed by Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, director of the Central Luzon Police Regional Office.

PNP chief, Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ M. dela Rosa, handed over the plaque to Balgan. Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda and her son, VicevGov. Dennis Pineda, were also cited by dela Rosa.

“We didn’t raise our children well just to be victimized by drug pushers. Those into illegal drugs, especially drug peddlers, have no place in Macabebe,” she added.

Balgan expressed confidence in their police chief, Major Efren David, saying, “I asked him to support all-out the campaign against drugs” in line with the call of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I support the President because illegal drugs destroy not just families but the society. There will be sacrifices along the way but that’s part of the change called by Duterte,” said Balgan.

“I don’t pity people hooked on drugs but their loved ones. The relatives of the drug users and pushers are the real victims,” she added.

Pette Mangiliman, who arrived with her, said “Mayor Balgan is the best thing that ever happened to Macabebe because she really cares for the people and ensures their welfare.”
