SM City Marilao sent its volunteers to flooded areas in Marilao to provide immediate relief to thousands of families affected by tropical depression “Maring”.
Tropical depression Maring had flooded and turned some areas in Marilao into inland seas.
Through SM Foundation Inc.’s Operation Tulong Express program, around 1,500 families were given relief packs or “kalinga packs”. These ‘kalinga’ packs contain a kilo of rice, canned sardines, and instant noodles as well as bottled waters all packed up in an eco-bag.
Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) is SM Foundation’s emergency response to victims of natural calamities and disasters. Its implementation include close coordination with Savemore and Hypermarket, Mall Administration employees and volunteers that include the mall’s Customer Relations Service (CRS) team as well as Local Government Unit.
