The slaying of two passengers aboard a Victory Bus Liner in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, on November 15, 2023, may had been solved with the arrest of one of the alleged gunman who pointed to the son of one of the victims.
Nueva Ecija Provincial Director PCol. Richard Caballero has identified the suspect as Allan Angeles De Los Santos, reportedly a member of a gun-for-hire group who was contracted to kill Gloria Atilano and Arman Bautista. Both victims were shot to death inside a Victory Bus Liner in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, where the suspects had alighted.
De Los Santos was arrested in Dilasag, Aurora on November 20, 2023 and soon after gave crucial information about his participation in the killings of Atilano and Bautista. De Los Santos had voluntarily executed an extra-judicial confession with the assistance of his counsel.
On December 11, 2023, a criminal complaint for two counts of murder against Delos Santos and four others was filed before the Prosecutor’s Office in Nueva Ecija.
In his extra-judicial confession, De Los Santos admitted the son of Atilano identified as Charlito Atilano hired them to kill her mother and her live-in partner for P60,000 each.
A witness on board the bus who saw the suspects’ faces before they boarded the bus identified De Los Santos as one of the gunmen.
The police cited the gunmen were in contact with Charlito to kill his mother and her live-in partner.
The conflict between mother and son reportedly stemmed from money and properties, which prompted Gloria to file cases of robbery and carnapping against her son Charlito.
Police also said that Charlito was not in favor of the union of the two live-in partners.
A report from Camp Olivas indicated that Delos Santos has strings of Warrant of Arrest for Statutory Rape and Sexual Assault. An in-depth probe has it that Delos Santos is a known gun-for-hire operating in Nueva Ecija and Isabela.
