From ‘Task Force on Media Killings’, it has evolved to ‘Task Force On Media Security’ to make it more encompassing and extensive. At the outset, the Technical Working Group is tasked to do an inventory or list of all media cases (killings) since 1986 for submission to PRRD on November 10. Also agreed during the meeting is for the Task Force to organize a Media Security Summit for all intents and purposes of the TF. Media groups were invited to be part of the steering committee for the event in November. “This is in line with the commemoration of the Ampatuan Massacre and the campaign to end impunity,” said Joel Egco, executive director-designate of the Task Force on Media Security. — PPI PHOTO
