Women leaders, solo parents attend First Aid Training in CSF

In line with the celebration of Women’s Week, basic first aid training was conducted for the women leaders of KALIPI association and solo parents of the City of San Fernando on September 7 at the Heroes Hall.

Dubbed “Capability Building among Organized Women,” the activity was realized through the efforts of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Gender and Development and City Social Welfare and Development Office.

GAD Focal Person Amalia Catacutan said the aim of this training is to teach the women on first aid treatments for injuries and sudden illnesses and to raise awareness on the importance of emergency preparedness.

CDRRMO Administrative and Training Staff Jennifer Yutuc discussed the essence of being prepared in case a disaster strikes. She also shared some tips on what to do and what to bring during emergencies.

At higit salahat lagi nating isaalang-alang ang sariling kaligtasan,” Yutuc said.

Rural Health Physician Dr. Carlos Mercado took part in informing the women how to give proper immediate care to a victim of injury or illness. He said that being knowledgeable in giving first aid can make everyone safe and can lessen injuries.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago encouraged everyone to participate on the activities of the city regarding emergency preparedness stressing that emergencies can happen anywhere at any time. Therefore, it is a must that everyone should be physically and mentally prepared.
