​​Lubao opens ‘Bahay Pagbabago’ anew

The “Bahay Pagbabago”in Lubao town, built for the reformation of drugusers, is set to open anew in barangay Sto. Tomas​ ​on Monday (May 15).

This was announced by Supt. Monico M. Cadayona, Lubao chief of police,during his radio guesting at “Pampanga Kaluguran Daka” aired at RW 95.1 FM every Friday and Tuesday, from 7to8a.m.

According to Cadayona, the Bahay Pagbabago will serve as a rehabilitation center for those will undergo “reformation program” and can accommodate at least 50 drug surrenderers.

“Not all surrenderers may enter the Bahay Pagbabago,only those who will be recommended by the barangay officials. The remaining drug surrenderers in the communities are constantly monitored by the police,” he said.

He also mentioned that the Bahay Pagbabago in cooperation with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) would provide livelihood, technical skills training and seminars on automotive mechanic, cell phone repairing and dress making within a span of 30 days.

He also said the 250 surrenderers can also join livelihood program under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) of the provincial government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Cadayona disclosed that among the first batch of drug surrenderers in Lubao enrolled in the Bahay Pagbabago last year, they found seven of them still positivefor illegal drugs.

He added that these surrenderers positive with drugs substance were immediately brought to Central Luzon Drug Rehabilitation Center in Magalang, Pampanga and others in Mariveles, Bataan.

He expressed that the Bahay Pagbabago is one of the numerous programs of the provincial governmentfor the continuous and intensive campaign against illegal drugs in the province.

At present the town of Lubao has 1,679 drug surrenderers.
