2 ‘Raga Gang’ members killed in Bulacan shootout

Joint elements of Bulacan Police Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) SWAT, 2nd PMFC, Dona Remedios Trinidad Police and Regional Intelligence Unit 3 of Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) have figured in a shootout with members of the dreaded “RAGA Group” killing two of them in Sitio Duplas, Barangay Klawakan, Don Remedios Trinidad on Saturday morning.

Bulacan PNP acting provincial director Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna identified one of the slain suspect as Brian Raga while the other suspect is still unidentified. A certain Joel Bernales was also arrested while a certain Juan Raga managed to elude arrest. All suspects were members of “Raga Group”.

Investigation showed the said operatives headed by Supt. Orlando Castil, chief of Bulacan PIB swooped down into the suspects hideout in Barangay Kalawakan armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Hon Judge Pazlinda A. Villamor-Joaquin for the crime of Murder and Violation of Anti-Carnapping Law.

The police operatives entered the suspects’ hideout at around 5:53am when Raga and his men opened fire prompting them to return fire.

Bersaluna said the Raga Group, a gun-for-hire and carnapping group operating in the provinces of Rizal and Bulacan were believed to be responsible in the series of killings in San Ildefonso. The suspects are also reportedly connected with the Delos Reyes gun-for-hire group.

Recovered in the crime scene were a Caliber 9mm Beretta, a sling bag containing one hand grenade, a 12 gauge Winchester shotgun and one Caliber 45 pistol.
