387 AMGL members cut support for reds

Central Luzon Police Director, Police Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon recently said some 387 members of Alyansang Magbubukid ng Gitnang Luzon (AMGL) from various barangays of Hermosa, Bataan, have cut their ties with the CPP-NPA-NDF and pledged support to the government.

The formal surrender of the AMGL members took place at the Mandama Covered Court in Barangay Mandama hosted by Punong Barangay Jason Enriquez and was supported by various government agencies like the Phiippine Army, LGU-Hermosa led by Mayor Jopet Inton, Bataan PPO led by Police Col. Joel Tampis, DILG, PESO, DAR, DSWD, DA, TESDA, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) and Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.

Provincial Board Member and Chairman of SP Committee on Peace and Order Popoy Del Rosario represented Bataan Governor Abet Garcia (PTF-ELCAC Bataan Chairman) and led the signing of pledge and disaffiliation of AMGL members from communist groups.

The CPP-NPA-NDF flags were also burned during the said occasion.

Brig.Gen De Leon cited the importance of their surrender and described the communist movement as a “wrong ideology.” The rebel returnees will be accorded the national government’s programs as they assimilate anew in the society.
