Educators, administrators and college students from different parts of the country will converge in Olongapo City from September 20-22 for a national seminar-workshop on Values and Peace Education.
The UNESCO- Asia-Pacific Network for International and Values Education (APNIEVE), in cooperation with the City of Olongapo will lead in a series of discussions at the Ferdinand M. Aristorenas Hall.
Endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education, the conference carries the theme Together for Peace: Promoting Respect, Safety, and Dignity,
Leading the panel of resource speakers is Dr. Toh Swee-Hin (S.H.Toh) Professor Emeritus of the University of Alberta, Canada.
Toh, recipient of the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education, will share his insights on the topic Together for Peace: Promoting Respect, Safety, and Dignity.
Dr. Maria Lourdes Q. Baybay, President of the UNESCO-APNIEVE Philippines will discuss the role of the UNESCO-APNIEVE Philippines as a Catalyst of Values and Peace Education.
Dr. Ronaldo Motilla, Director of the Integrated Lifestyle, and Wellness Center (ILAW) in Miriam College, Quezon City tackles the enriching qualities of Peace and Values Educators through Positive Health and Wellbeing.
Dr. Zandra Z. Paruginog and Dr. Eleonor C. Cayabyab will explain Effective and Progressive Values and Peace Education through Research and Development.
Floyd G. Aquino, APNIEVE Regional Coordinator for Region 3 will talk on Promoting Peace and Values Education through Positive Discipline in Everyday Teaching.
Dr. Teresita R. Dumlao Vice President for Academic Affairs Dean, College of Arts and Sciences and Education at Columban College for her part will explain the Enriching Pedagogies in Teaching Values and Peace Education in Schools.
Prof. Rene Romero fellow APNIEVE Regional Coordinator for Region 3 takes on Issues, Trends, and Challenges in Teaching Values and Peace Education in the 21st Century while Prof. Arnaldo Mendoza of the First Asian Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) follows with a treatise on Embracing the Challenges of Peace and Values Education.
Dr. Wilson Chua of Far Eastern University-Manila discusses Peace and Values Education in the life of the Millennials and Generation Z. –– Rex Arcadio R. San Diego II
