AC gov’t issues 3,000 fare matrix for passenger trikes

The​ ​Angeles City government distributed a total of 3,000 fare matrix to tricycle drivers on Thursday to guide to commuters on the standardization and regulation of transportation flat rates of passenger tricycles in the city.

Ordinance No. 338 or the Fare Matrix Ordinance is primarily intended to ensure that the riding publicis being charged accurately and fairly.

Councilor Amos Rivera, author of the ordinance, said that this is “a first of its kind in the country”,highlighting the need to protect the commuting public and the drivers on possible confusion, quarrels, and road rage.

The fare rubric emphasizes a P25 flat rate for the first 3 kilometers traveled. Also, a point-to-point destination (in kilometers) is specified on the distributed printed copies with equivalent rates.

An additional P10 per kilometer will be chargedfor the succeeding distance traveled. The matrix also indicates that the rates enlisted are good for one to two passengers only, and that rates are exclusivewithin the driver’s designated zone only.

Rivera reiterated that a 5-peso discount is granted to senior citizens, students, solo parents, and persons with disability (PWD).

The matrix also contains the hotlines of concerned agencies that commuters may contact to address their complaints, reports, and suggestions.

Meanwhile, the city government ​is ​eye​ing​ to distribute more than 10,000 copies to all passenger tricycle​s​ in the city.

Copies of the matrix were distributed by the Public Transportation Regulatory Office (PTRO) in partnership with private corporations like the Infinity, Hotel Sogo, and Hausland Development Corporation.
