Angeles City to provide milk to indigent kids

ANGELES CITY — City government of Angeles will distribute milk formula beginning Monday, April 27.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. disclosed that they procured PhP5 million worth of milk and other children’s needs to be distributed to poor children.

Lazatin instructed Executive Assistant Reina Manuel to supervise the distribution with Gender and Development Office and City Nutrition Office.

The distribution will start in barangay Agapito Del Rosario where 244 kids will receive milk.

Milk will be distributed door-to-door in 33 barangays based on the household survey of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Barangay Population Workers.

A survey was done per barangay last March 31 to check the needs of families with children.

Relative to this, Lazatin has also allocated PhP5 million for the purchase of Vitamin C supplements for children.

In an interview during Tuesday’s episode of Laging Handa Network Briefing, Lazatin said that the city government provided aid to residents severely affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Aside from children, they provided PhP1,000 cash assistance and vitamin C to each indigent senior citizen via house to house.

“We also gave our TODA (tricycle drivers) and jeepney drivers PhP1,000 each as well as our solo parents and persons with disabilities. We also gave them food packs per household,” Lazatin disclosed.

Apart from this, the city government gave food packs to all households and apartments. Also given were those in hotels who do not have anything to eat.
