Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan join Manila Bay Clean-up and Rehab

Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado together with other local government units, concern government agencies, non government organizations and other stakeholders joined with officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in cleaning the river along coastal areas in Bulacan that connects to Manila Bay during the Manila Bay Clean-up and Rehabilitation Kick-off Activity held in Barangay Tawiran in Obando,town on Sunday early morning.

The said event was simultaneously done in three areas in Central Luzon particularly in Bulacan, Barangay Lucanin in Mariveles, Bataan and Barangay Sta. Filomena in Guagua, Pampanga.

The center of the event in Region 3 was held in Obando town, as DENR Asst. Secretary for Field Operations-Northern Luzon Joselin Marcus Fragada graced the event joined with Alvarado in the conducted solidarity walk together with personnel from the PNP, PA-AFP, BJMP, DOTC, DoT, BFP, DILG,DPWH, LGU’s, NGO’s, academes, civil society organizations, Youths, PIA, Bulacan stakeholders and other volunteer groups.

“This is the dawning of new beginning, a collective effort that has to be done not only by the leaders but us. This is an honest to goodness program of our President who has a political will.. We have to act all in this, we have to implement the law and punish them who caused our rivers polluted, Ignorance of the law excuses no one,” Alvarado said.

It was learned that Bulacan tops the highest number of participants in the said event in Region 3 with 1,515 participants followed by Bataan province with 1,200 participants while Pampanga has 1,110 participants.
