DPWH augments existing river control in Porac

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood control structure on the banks of the Pasig-Potrero River at barangay Manuali in Porac, Pampanga.

It consists of a 232.54-lineal meter concrete slope protection on steel sheet pile foundation with reinforced concrete pile cap.

DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. explained that this will help prevent flooding and soil erosion in areas near the Pasig-Potrero River which is heavily silted after becoming a channel of Pinatubo lahar deposits.

“This project is necessary to ensure the safety of Manuali residents and protect their properties,” Audea emphasized.

“It diverts the flow of river water away from the community, thus preventing further scouring of the river banks,” he added.

P29.3 million was allotted for the project under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
