DTI Tarlac launches ‘Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay’ in Sta. Ignacia

STA. IGNACIA, Tarlac — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac launched the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) program in Sta. Ignacia town to boost the businesses of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

About seven micro enterprises from barangay Vargas, mostly manufacturers of baked products and delicacies, were initially evaluated and selected by DTI with the help of the barangay council.

“Under the NSB program, qualified beneficiaries received individual packages of livelihood kits that could help them improve their businesses in case of calamities or health disasters such as the pandemic,” DTI Tarlac Business Development Division Chief Zaida Garibay.

She also underscored that this is part of the government’s thrust to support the MSMEs who are considered as the backbone of the economy.

“You, the MSMES are the reason for this program. Treasure what was given to you. Help promote entrepreneurship in your barangay. Encourage your ka-barangays to engage in doing business. We at DTI and the rest of our partner agencies and the local government unit are here for you,” Garibay said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Nora Modomo urged the recipients to set a good example to other barangays.

“This program is very helpful to the entrepreneurs. To the beneficiaries, let these livelihood kits grow, prove that you deserve to receive them and be a role model and inspiration to other Santaguinians,” Modomo added.

Beneficiaries will be monitored regularly by DTI Tarlac through the Negosyo Center Sta. Ignacia for their business growth and development.

DTI’s NSB program allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bridging government services closer to the people through partnerships between local government units.
