Gov. Garcia asks public cooperation amid 2nd COVID-19 case in Bataan

BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Governor Albert Raymond Garcia is asking  Bataeños to cooperate with the provincial government following the announcement of the second confirm case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Department of Health has confirmed the second case of COVID-19 positive in Bataan. The patient, identified as PH303 M24, is currently being treated at a hospital in our province,” Garcia said in a statement.

“In the midst of this event, I again ask for unity and cooperation by following the set guidelines in the Enhanced Community Quarantine to prevent the rapid spread of coronavirus in the country,” he added.

Garcia said the Provincial Health Office (PHO) is continuously gathering additional information and is conducting contact-tracing for the second positive case of COVID-19 patient.

“PHO found that PH303 M24 was allegedly accompanied by PH64 M32 in a dormitory in Manila and had just returned to Bataan when he had symptoms of respiratory diseases,” he revealed.

PH64 M32 is the first recorded COVID-19 patient in the province who was confined in a private hospital last March 14.

“According to the latest health update, PH64 M32 continues to get better and may eventually fully recover,” the governor said.

He also added that as of 8:45pm Saturday, March 21, 2020, there are 4,475 persons under monitoring and 231 persons under investigation in Bataan.

“I am asking the public to stay at your respective homes and practice social media distancing at all time. We want to avoid the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases because as much as possible, we don’t want to risk our health workers, doctors, nurses and even our hospitals,” Garcia furthered.
