Edsa wants biker-friendly city

The use of bicycles as a means of transportation will be pushed by the San Fernando city government in a bid to keep the air clean and make the city biker-friendly.

This was bared by Mayor Edwin D. Santiago during a cycling caravan sponsored by the LGU last June 19. The event was participated by hundreds of bike enthusiasts coming from the city and nearby areas.

Mayor Santiago underscored that the city is gearing up to become the most livable place where development is achieved without sacrificing the environment.

The mayor noted that such initiatives are not exactly unheard of; in fact, non-motorized travel has been integrated in the road systems of foreign countries.

He also urged the public to explore more options and choose the best alternatives of transportation, saying that “this program will not only alleviate environmental concerns, but it will also promote a healthier regimen for the Fernandinos.”
