Moncada imposes mandatory wearing of medical grade face masks

Municipal government of Moncada strictly imposed the wearing and use of medical grade face masks in public places as a proactive measure against the spread of COVID-19.

This is relative to the Municipal Ordinance No. 06 Series of 2021, approved by the Sangguniang Bayan, an ordinance amending Section 1 of Municipal Ordinance No. 02 Series of 2020 otherwise known as the “Face Masks and Social Distancing Ordinance of Moncada 2020.”

“All persons who are within the territorial jurisdiction of Moncada are mandated to wear and use medical face masks while outside their respective residences, in offices, business establishments and when in other public places,” Moncada Information Officer and Sangguniang Bayan Secretary Victor Sandino Molina explained.

Molina emphasized that the face mask must be properly worn and sufficiently cover the nose and mouth.

He cited that medical grade face masks include surgical masks, N95, KN95 or other medical masks that block large respiratory droplets and splashes from being expelled into the atmosphere.

“Government agencies and the business sector must also comply with this ordinance, and adopt the “No Facemask, No Entry/Transaction” policy,” Molina furthered.

Molina said the municipal government will distribute free face masks to non-compliant individuals especially in the public market.

“This is a way forward for the municipal government to ensure the compliance of public minimum health standards,” he noted.
