At least 499 drug surrenderees from eight towns in the province have inked an agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for a 10-day livelihood program under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
The signing, which took place at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound here, was made through the effort of Governor Lilia Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, in partnership with DOLE, to augment the income of the surrenderees from the towns of Porac, Macabebe, Mexico, Magalang, Florida, Lubao, Candaba and Sasmuan.
Community Affairs Officer 1 Michael Regala, said each drug surrenderee will receive P364
for a day of work service in their community, or a total amount of P3,640 in 10 days.
Catalino Guanzon, a surenderee from Mancatian, Porac , thanked the governor and vice governor for the help extended to them.
According to him, he can now start a new beginning with the small amount (that) he will earn from the livelihood program.
