The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) and the Provincial Government of Pampanga are already preparing for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit to be held at Clark Freeport Zone in November.

He said the police will provide area security coverage and other public safety services to “ensure safety and friendly atmosphere for all the delegates and leaders of the ASEAN Summit”.

In his report during the council meeting, Consulta said that they will be assigning task groups for specified duties and areas who will be reporting from the main headquarters in Camp Crame.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, meanwhile ordered the Pampanga PPO to clear all issues in relation to security and public safety, including the recent “tanim-droga” incident wherein some officers from Mabalacat Police District have been accused of planting methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu on six men they arrested on Dau, Mabalacat last April 24.

“You must clear this issue or it might affect our image. Kailangan ngayon pa lang i-maintain na natin ang peace and order. Kasi once na may pumutok na issue, once na nagkaprublema, baka aatras sila anytime,” she said.

She also asked the Pampanga PPO to station as early as this month in Clark to check on the constructions being done in the vicinity.

The ASEAN Summit is a semi-annual meeting spearheaded by the members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations that tackles economic and cultural development of Southeast Asian countries.

This year, the Philippines will be hosting the 31st ASEAN Leader Summit and the special celebration of ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary. The event set from Nov. 10-14 is expected to be attended by 27 Leaders and 4,341 delegates.
