SSS urges public to file complaint vs negligent employers

BALANGA CITY — Social Security System (SSS) members are urged to file complaints against their negligent employers.

In a radio interview, SSS Balanga Branch Head Joel Villafuerte reminded employers that it is their obligation to pay the monthly SSS contributions of their employees on time.

“Failure of employers to pay SSS contributions of their employees is a criminal offense and we will take action immediately,” Villafuerte stressed.

“These cases should be taken seriously so we are urging our members to visit the nearest SSS branch to file an official complaint and we will handle it confidentially,” he furthered.

Evasion of employers to pay and remit SSS contributions will result to penalties as stated under Republic Act 8282 otherwise known as the Social Security Law.

Bataeños who want to file a complaint may visit SSS Balanga branch at Wong Chun Kar Building, Rotary Avenue, Balanga City or reach their hotline at (047) 237-3349.

Meanwhile, employees in Mariveles town may visit SSS Mariveles branch located inside the Administration Building of the Freeport Area of Bataan or call their hotline at (047) 935-7133. (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3 with Camille Pizarro, intern)
