Victoria LGU stays firm in protocols as Canarem Lake gains popularity

TARLAC CITY — The municipal government of Victoria in Tarlac remained firm in implementing its protocols as Canarem Lake gains popularity.

The area has become an emerging tourist destination due to presence of migratory birds.

In an interview, Mayor Christian Yap said they have passed several ordinances to maintain the bird sanctuary in their municipality.

“We impose ordinances such as no shooting of birds, no littering, no construction of any kind or activities creating loud disturbing sounds that may disrupt the sanctuary,” the official shared.

In addition to controlling the noise in Canarem Lake, Yap said tourists who want to visit must coordinate with the Municipal Tourism Office or drop by the municipal hall before proceeding.

“For those who want to do bird watching, our Municipal Tourism Office may organize guided trips for you,” he said.

Yap said this is not only to boost the local tourism but also protect the environment.
