4 drowned in Hagonoy fish port

Four teenagers including a seventeen-year old teen have drowned while catching fish near the Hagonoy Fish Port in Barangay Sto. Rosario, Hagonoy, Bulacan on Tuesday afternoon.

The first victim was identified as Jonas Florentino, 17, male; Oliver Ramos, 20 and Paul Andrew Reyes, 17 and Robert Silvestre, 26, all of the said barangay.

The incident occurred at 5pm when the first victim jumped to the river to catch fish and when his two friends noticed their friend is still not coming up they also jumped in a bid to save him but drowned.

It was learned that during retrieval and rescue operation on Wednesday afternoon by the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Disaster Operation (PDRRMO), two of the victims were recovered.

Investigation showed that during rescue and retrieval operation, the body of Reyes was first found by the rescuers around 8:30am at the left side of the river near the port and after two hours the body of Ramos was found at the right side of the river.

Rescuer Ramsey Reyes of the PDRRMO said, a fourth victim after noticing that his friend Florentino was not yet found, he volunteered and jumped into the river at 1pm without consent from the PDRRMO personnel. He too was missing.

The bodies of the other two were later recovered.
