Aqua Planet joins Guiness World Record of largest simultaneous swimming lesson

Aqua Planet, the first and only waterpark facility in the Philippines to join the Guiness World of Record of largest swimming lesson conducted simultaneously, made a history as some 1,200 children gathered to create awareness on saving lives thru swimming, Thursday, June 22.

This is part of the 9th World Largest Swimming Lesson, a global public relation event joined by more than 20 countries all over the world which promotes ‘Swimming Lesson Save Lives’.

“Isa tayo sa mga bagong member ng World Association of Waterparks at tayo ang first in the Philippines. Kakaiba ang mix ng Pilipinas ngayon dahil kasama natin ang mga physically challenged kids at ang mga coaches nila ay kapwa may kapansanan na well-trained talaga. This is an introductory program to make them love and know the character of water to prevent drowning,” BBI President Dr. Irineo Alvaro Jr. said.

According to Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine 2009, formal swimming lessons among kids aged one to four can reduce the ris of drowning by 88%.

“We want to make sure that we can reach everyone and make ensure that kids enroll in swimming lesson. Drowning is one of the leading causes of of death to young people, ” Aqua Planet General Manager Rafael Suarez added.

This event was made possible thru the initiative of Aqua Planet in partnership with Bridges Benevolent Initiatives Foundation Inc and in coordination with Angeles City government and its city schools division. –Photos by JP Manalang
