Go visits fire victims in Bocaue

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Wednesday visited and provides financial aid and relief goods to 177 families temporarily sheltered in the New Bocaue Evacuation Center in Igulot, Bocaue, they were affected by a fire broke out last February 11.

More than 522 individuals were given immediate support from the senator as well as other concerned government agencies such as the provncial government of Bulacan, local municipality of Bocaue, National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) after 179 households were razed by fire in Barangay Antipona, Bocaue, Bulacan.

The distribution was led by Senator Go with Barangay Antipona village chief Milagros Dabu wherein each affected family were given financial and relief goods assistance.

After the distribution program, Go gave a chance to have a boodle fight with Bocaue Riders Association.

Governor Daniel Fernando also through the provincial social welfare distributed half sack of rice, pack of clothes and emergency box consisting of sleeping mats, blankets, pillows and mosquito nets while the financial assistance are also being worked on depending on the damage caused for each household.

According to Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Rodante Galvez, the fire incident started at around 9:45 in the morning from an unattended LPG stove and lasted for about four hours and was raised to fourth alarm before being declared as completely fire out by 1:30 in the afternoon.

Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna during the fire incident happened went to the site and personally assist the fire vctims in providing temporary shelters for them.

Mayor Tugna also led the next day the distribution of relief goods with personnel of the municipal social welfare and barangay officials.

Villge chief Dabu said she was still thankful that despite the incident nobody was hurt and expressed her gratitude to the senator, Provincial Government of Bulacan and Local Municipality of Bocaue after receiving support and assistance for her community.

“Salamat po at maraming tulong po kaming natatanggap at higit sa lahat ay wala naman pong nasakatan sa kanila. Malaking bagay ito para matulungang magsimula muli ang mga nasunugan lalo’t washed out po talaga ang mga kabahayan at kahit papaano po ay nakikita ko rin naman na ikinasasaya ng mga tao dito sa evacuation kapag may mga dumadating na tulong,” Dabu said.

Affected families are currently staying at the New Bocaue Municipal Evacuation Center in Brgy. Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan which serves as the evacuation center where various activities and film showing are being held every day to ease the trauma of the victims.

The affected individuals will receive P5,000 cash from the DSWD, P10,000 worth of Kabuhayan (groceries) from DTI, a unit for a low cost from the housing program of NHA or optional of P30,000 worth of construction materials.
