HERMOSA, Bataan – Municipal mayor Jopet Inton over the weekend (April 1 and 2) joined Bataan 1st District Representative Geraldine B. Roman in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of KABAKA or the Kababaihan ng Bataan tungo sa Kaunlaran.
Coinciding with last March’s celebration of women’s month, the Hermosa leg of the event was held at the Barangay Palihan covered court where thousands of KABAKA members flock to the venue.
Former congresswoman Herminia B. Roman, mother of Geraldine, was also present along with Barangay Capt. Ricardo Del Cruz and other local officials.
Mayor Inton gave P500 worth of groceries to each member.
“Magtutulong tulong kami para mapataas ang antas ng inyong buhay. Nagkakaisa kami upang mas marami pang maibigay na tulong para sa inyo,” Inton said in his brief speech.
The celebration started last March 11 in Samal, March 12 in Abucay while on March 18-19 it was held in Orani, March 25-26 in Dinalupihan and the last one will be in Morong on April 8.
Founded by the late Congressman Tony Roman, Geraldine’s father, KABAKA is aimed at giving women of the province’s 1st district the innate social and economic patronage due them – their involvement and being cohorts to their spouses in maintaining a decent living for their respective families, as well as, their being active partners in establishing women empowerment in Bataan and their worthwhile contribution in nation-building.•Text By Mhike R.
