Land Rover to introduce hybrid vehicle in PH

A hybrid Land Rover for the Philippine market in 2024. Yes, you read it right!

Chris Ward, President of Jaguar and Land Rover Philippines, revealed a hybrid version of the vehicle popular among 4×4 enthusiasts in the country will be made available in the Philippines in 2024.

A Land Rover EV model will be a combination of petrol engine and a high capacity electric motor probably 85Kw to make up the powerhouse of the hybrid model that is similarly capable to do the off-road handling capabilities of previous models running on petrol.

Ward, spoke to iOrbitNews on the sidelines of the 60th Anniversary of Land Rover Club Phillippines (LRCP) which celebrated the occasion with a 2-day Off-Road Driving Course and Vehicle Recovery Course at the Sand Base in Barangay Dolores, Mabalacat City on October 22-23.

Ward said he will visit the United Kingdom next month to personally check the development of the Land Rover Hybrid Model prior to its introduction in the Philippines market.

Ward said Land Rover vehicles are widely popular in the Philippines and revealed they would soon deliver the 400th Land Rover vehicle this December to a client.

He said Land Rover Philippines fully supports the events of the Land Rover Club of the Philippines (LRCP) which is planning to visits five provinces of the country in the next five months. He identified some of the provinces as Abra, in Benguet; Zambales; Aurora; Pampanga; and one in the Visayas or Mindanao.

For his part, Atty. Bobby Consunji, LRCP President, said their visit to the countryside is aimed to revive tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic which stopped 4×4 trail activities.

Consunji said 80 Land Rover vehicles will participate in the 2-day Off-Road Driving Course at the Sand Base in Mabalacat City which is located in a 150-hectare area owned by one of their member.

Taiwanese 4×4 enthusiasts Roy Hsin and Kevin Banh will also observe and participate in the 2-day events that includes an overnight camping at the Sand Base.
