Lazatin, GO Philipines sign MOA for educational aid

The Angeles City government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with GO Philippines for a pilot project that will provide low-cost loans, scholarships, and grants to Angeleños attending the City’s accredited academic institutions.

Signing the MOA are Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr.  with GO Philippines Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Andrew Alcid, Chief Partnerships and Strategy Officer Karl Leung, and Former Angeles City Vice Mayor Atty. Bryan Nepomuceno.

The MOA also calls for the launching of a National Education Assistance Program (NEAP) in the city.

Mayor Lazatin said Angeles City is the first community nationwide to benefit from this unique opportunity.

In addition, he said this is  GO Philippines’ support to the educational programs for the youth.

According to Alcid, the NEAP extends well beyond student assistance delivering personal finance tools, business products, electronic services, and welfare benefits.

He also said students who wish to avail of the assistance can sign up for free. It is open to public and private schools from K-12, graduate to post graduate without expenses from the City Government. GO Philippines then will match their needs with financial institutions who are willing to participate in the program.

To date, the program covers the three major universities in Angeles City – Angeles University Foundation, Holy Angel University, and Republic Central Colleges.
