Lazatin supports Angeles youth

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Opposition Councilor and Angeles City Mayoralty Aspirant Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., during the Angeles City’s Mayoral Candidates Forum sponsored by Hotel and Restaurants Association in Pampanga, Inc. (HARP) on November 21 at Oasis Hotel, announced that once elected, the city government will focus on developing the talents of local youth in this city.

“There are a lot of talented individuals in Angeles City,” Lazatin said, “Under our administration, the city government will focus on supporting these talented people, especially the youth.”

Lazatin explained that this will be done through partnerships with various schools and major universities in the city, such as establishing a Center for Culture and Arts in partnership with Angeles University Foundation, a Center for Film and Media Arts in partnership with Holy Angel University, a Center for Digital Media and Graphic Design in partnership with Systems Plus College Foundation, and a Center for Technical and Vocational Training in partnership with the Angeles City National Trade School.

Further, Lazatin said that the city government under his administration will activate the Culture and Arts Council of Angeles City (CACA), which will be responsible for crafting and promulgating policy on the preservation of Angeles City’s cultural heritage.

According to Lazatin, Angeles City was similar to New York, saying that while the city does not have a lot of unique tourist destinations, it is rich in human resources and the city government should focus on developing and harnessing this potential.

Earlier, Lazatin also announced his plans of cultivating a close partnership between the city government and the private sector once he is elected to further enhance the city’s business sector – starting with cleaning out abusive government employees who use their position to extort businesses in the city.

“Ang magiging administration po natin ay may paninindigan,” Lazatin stressed, “Ang ibig pong sabihin nito, we will clean out the corrupt employees in the city government, regardless of their affiliation.”
