Fire engulfs 600 houses in Bataan coastal village

ORION, BATAAN – Around 600 houses turned into ashes displacing almost the whole community as a coastal area of Barangay Capunitan in this town was buried in giant flames and thick black smoke on Tuesday morning.

Bataan PNP Director Senior Supt. Marcelo Dayag thru SMS reported that the houses that were razed by fire were made of light materials in Sitio Depensa, an area to mostly to fisher folks since the area is near the shores.

Rescue teams from different towns led by Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), firefighters from all over the province and even from nearby Subic Bay Freeport’s firefighters team have responded to the incident and dowsed the raging fire.

Initial reports stated that the fire started due to faulty electrical wiring. The affected residents numbering to more than a thousand individuals were evacuated to a local school of the said municipality.

As of press time, no one is reported injured or dead due to the fire.

Orion police chief, Police Chief Insp. Dennis Orbista thru a phone call to this reporter said the fire started at around 10 a.m.and was declared under control at 1300 hrs(1 p.m.) and reached fourth alarm. (Contributed photos from Udyong Bataan Facebook Page)
